Lomax was a genre painter, born in Manchester. He studied in Stuttgart and at the Munich Academy, but returned to Manchester and later relocated to London. His subjects were mainly historical genre of the 17th and 18th Centuries, often with a dramatic or sentimental theme.

desre tate photographs kayakers steve fisher, dale jardine, and sam drevo standing at the edge of victoria falls’ 350 foot drop before absailing down. during the autumn dry season, the river’s flow is at a safe enough level that you can swim right to the waterfall’s edge (as shown in this photoset).

located on the border of zambia and zimbabwe, the falls are the biggest in the world. they are twice as high and as wide as niagara falls. included is nicole cambré’s photo of a near circular rainbow over the falls to give a better sense of its scope.
